Contractor Expectations with Orange Moon

As an independent contractor, you have the flexibility to choose assignments — and with that comes professional expectations to ensure safety, quality, and a consistent experience for our clients and their students.


This page outlines the key expectations for contractors while performing assignments with us.

Independent Contractor Status

Contractors with Orange Moon are engaged as independent contractors, not employees.


This means:

  • You choose which assignments to accept 
  • You are paid per assignment 
  • You are responsible for your own taxes and obligations 
  • You are not guaranteed hours
     

Once an assignment is accepted, it becomes a binding service commitment unless canceled at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time.

Professional Conduct

While on assignment, contractors are expected to:


✔ Behave in a respectful, professional manner
✔ Represent Orange Moon positively
✔ Follow assignment requirements as outlined in the contractor portal
✔ Respond promptly to messages and communications
✔ Maintain accurate and complete reporting


Professional conduct helps ensure safety, client trust, and future opportunities for work.

Reporting Expectations

Contractors must submit required reports during and after assignments as specified in the assignment details.

  • For overnight assignments, reports are typically required every 30 minutes 
  • Reports must be submitted via the Orange Moon platform 
  • Reports are a required deliverable tied to payment eligibility and assignment completion
     

Failure to submit reports may affect your payment and eligibility for future assignments.

Uniform & Presentation

Contractors are expected to meet appearance standards while performing assignments.


This includes:

  • Required Orange Moon attire (or acceptable equivalent) 
  • Clean, professional presentation 
  • Wearing the proper identification badge during coverage


Uniform expectations are part of the assignment requirements and help meet client expectations.

Communication Standards

Contractors must:

  • Check messages and notifications in the contractor portal 
  • Respond promptly to communications related to assignments 
  • Use the portal communication tools for assignment needs 
  • Notify support or admin promptly if urgent issues arise


Professional and timely communication reduces confusion and supports operational flow.

Assignment Readiness

Before each assignment, you may complete an Assignment Readiness Self-Attestation confirming that you are fit, alert, and able to safely perform the assignment.


This is a professional self-assessment, not a medical evaluation.

Attendance & Punctuality

Contractors are expected to:


✔ Arrive at assignment locations on time
✔ Complete assignments as scheduled
✔ Communicate before shift start if there are legitimate reasons for delay


Late arrivals, early departures, or no-shows may affect future assignment access and performance records.

Assignment Changes & Cancellations

Contractors may cancel an accepted assignment up to 48 hours before the scheduled start time without penalty.


Cancellations within 48 hours may result in:


  • Performance points 
  • Reduced eligibility for future assignments 
  • Removal from assignment listings in the platform
     

This expectation helps ensure client requirements are met.

Compliance with Policies

Contractors are expected to follow all applicable Orange Moon policies including:


  • Reporting requirements 
  • Attire and presentation standards 
  • Professional conduct standards 
  • Communication protocols 
  • Safety and readiness expectations


Failure to adhere to these expectations may affect assignment eligibility.

Payment Expectations

Payments are issued based on:


✔ Assignment acceptance
✔ Completion and submission of required reports
✔ Assignment deliverables verified in the contractor portal


For overnight assignments, payment is typically processed via Stripe by 2:00 PM the following business day once assignment deliverables are verified.

Performance Tracking

Contractor performance is tracked through our performance point system. Accumulating performance points may affect your eligibility for future assignments.
